Bony to Beastly, the ectomorph transformation program, is officially in BETA (now live)

Bony to Beastly skinny ectomorph bodybuilding transformation

Update: I’ll leave this post alive, but beta was a complete success. Read the full Bony to Beastly story here, and check out the finished program here.

We’ve officially entered closed beta for our upcoming ectomorph transformation program. So far our testers are up by 5-10 pounds of lean mass in the first 2 weeks — pretty good! And we think we’ll be seeing even better results soon as they fully gear into the program.

Our 4 month ectomorph transformation:

Bony to Beastly Ectomorph Transformation

Read about Jared and I’s transformation here.

Two of our beta testers after just one phase (1/4 through the program):

Read about Obe here.

Read about Jeff here.

The program is 5 months long, specifically geared at skinny hardgainers/ectomorphs like us, and works through 4 phases designed to dramatically transform your skinny-boy bod into a powerful athletic physique. The goal is to get you muscle size in a rapid, functional and healthy way — which luckily is also the best way to achieve incredible aesthetics, strength and symmetry. Here’s an illustrated rundown of how our program packs muscle on an ectomorph frame while also fixing up posture (upper lower crossed syndrome):

After the first month alone you should be up 8-12 pounds and both your appearance and health will have drastically improved. By the end you’ll have a powerful masculine physique and a healthy lifestyle.

If this sounds like a pretty sweet deal you might be in luck—we’ve got a few spots left in our final round of beta testing. If that sounds like it’s up your alley here’s what we’d need from you:

1. Before photos, and photos every month for 3-5 months. Jared’s before photo poses are ideal. No fancy cameras or lighting required, but we do need those poses. We’d need a couple measurements too, of your biceps, thigh, waist and shoulder circumference. And we’d need your weight, taken first thing in the morning on an empty stomach.

2. A commitment to hit the gym 3 times a week for 1 hour each session

3. A commitment to follow the nutrition plan to the best of your abilities — you will need to eat a bunch of whole food. Supplements are totally optional. If you’re a vegetarian or a vegan that’s okay too, but it will make things more challenging on your end.

4. Being active on the forum, giving feedback on the program and keeping us up to date with your results, weekly weight gains, and monthly measurements.

In exchange for your promised efforts in the kitchen and gym, and for helping us shape and polish the final product, you’d get:

1. Access to the ebook and everything you’ll need in their raw but nearly complete form

2. Coaching from us to help you work through any trouble areas

3. Access to our brand new online community with us and our other beta testers.

4. 20-30 pounds of muscle in 3-4 months 🙂

5. You’d be helping us out a ton, and making this product better for all the skinny guys to follow

If you’re interested in joining in now and helping us shape the final product send me an email at shane@foxhoundstudio.com with the photos and measurements outlined above. We’re only looking for skinny ectomorph hardgainers that want to dramatically transform their bodies over the next 3-5 months. This isn’t something where you could pick and choose what to follow, take things at your own pace, and get your results slowly and steadily. The program is certainly flexible enough to allow that, but for the beta testing we want to try and push it to its limits and see how dramatic of a change you can make. We’re in the final stages of beta, so you’d need to be ready to start muscling-up right away, too.

If you fit the bill we’ll send along our content, give you access to all the training videos, and hook you up with a membership on our Bony to Beastly forum.

Ready to get in the best shape of your life and go from Bony to Beastly?

Hope to hear from you!

effin awesome stuff lads! is there any chance you got room for one more stick boy in the beta program?

    • W. Shane Duquette on March 18, 2012 at 3:27 pm

We’re at the very very last stages of beta and the program is scheduled to launch before the end of the month! With that said, we’re leaving no determined skinny-man behind! If you fit the beta requirements and are ready to pack on some muscle starting in the next couple days send along those photos and we’ll get you set up 🙂 You’d have to be ready to motor though!

I am skinny I also want to get buffed.

      • Mohammed Ibrahim on May 13, 2023 at 7:06 am

I also want to join what are the requirements?

  3. Shawn on March 21, 2012 at 2:47 am

I am a skinny, long hair dude too dudes. lol, I’m not backspacing that! Anyway, good job on this site gentlemen. There’s lots of good info here. Keep it up and all that good stuff.

I’m starting (well, I’m not ‘starting it’ just applying it) a program that shows to get massive results in 4 weeks. I know it’s not part of your beta test, but if you want more info on it for personal knowledge, or if you want to make a chapter/post about it, send me an email via the provided (not published) address. If not, no one will learn anything from it other than a few FB friends lol.

25 yr old, 135 pounds, just under 6′. SKINNY! but i do already have abs, always have. But I attribute that to being skinny/naturally lean.

P.S. If an email is sent, please make a crazy title and capitalize so I can see it through the junk and spam.

Hey Shane, you guys still have space in your beta program?

    • W. Shane Duquette on April 2, 2012 at 8:06 pm

      Hey Timothy,
I’m glad you’re interested. We’re actually just just finishing the official polished version of the program now! It’s been fully operational in its beta form for a few weeks now and our beta testers are doing an incredible job! Two of them gained over four pounds this week alone!
We’re hoping to have it fully finished and available for purchase tonight, but if we run into delays then tomorrow at the latest. I’ll shoot you an email when it officially launches 🙂
      My best,
      Shane

    Hey Shane.

I was wondering if you could offer some kind of discount as i’m really interested in your program but i don’t have that much spare money at the moment due to some major things going on in my life. I would really appreciate it if you could send me an email!

    Thanks!

    – Matt

Hey man, If you need a teen I’m highly interested. I’m 6’0 125 pounds and I’d like to know if I can still join.

  9. Spence on September 9, 2012 at 9:45 pm

I need this! I have been struggling with an ectomorphic body type for years despite working out daily. 🙁

    • W. Shane Duquette on September 12, 2012 at 10:12 pm

Haha well I have good news! You don’t need to work out every day, and you’ll love our new Bony to Beastly blog / program 🙂

  10. danny on October 16, 2012 at 2:20 pm

When are you doing the program again or
is it completely done. I’ve been trying to get big but cant

  11. Daniel on March 1, 2013 at 5:39 pm

I’m an ectomorph and would really like to gain weight and become fit, but I have kyphosis and I’m afraid if I start lifting weights the problem will get worse… What should I do? Do you think I can start the program?

    • W. Shane Duquette on April 23, 2013 at 3:03 pm

That’s a really good question! The answer? Deadlift! (With approval from your doc, of course.)
Check this out and you’ll see what I mean 🙂
      http://bonytobeastly.com/ectomorph-weightlifting/

Lamar Gant’s example is pretty inspiring.

Plus, don’t be bummed by your kyphosis – it’s super common. Jared, Marco and I all have it. It’s actually very very rare to find an ectomorph that doesn’t have a curved spine. Our long slim torsos are just asking for it 🙁

  12. Prince on March 26, 2013 at 2:49 pm

I’m also ectomorph and i’m 15….i am quite sorry I can’t fit all your requirements, but I would love to join you guys…to be honest i’m already like pretty muscular, but I want to get ripped. Thank you and I hope you let me join.

    • W. Shane Duquette on April 23, 2013 at 3:33 pm

Hey Prince, you can absolutely join! We aren’t doing beta testing now, and the requirements are much less strict – it’s an actual program now 🙂

      Check it out: http://www.bonytobeastly.com

  13. Paul on May 24, 2013 at 7:19 am

    Hi Shane

I’ve been reading through your website multiple times and got to some questions.
I’m also an ectomorph, 150 pounds, 6’06” high and have always been impressed by big guys.
I’ve been training for like 11 months right now, I gained 5 kilos already and my bodyfat% decreased from 13.7 % to 12.9 %. This all aren’t big results…
I know that the key to getting bigger and stronger is to eat the right types of food and the right amount of them of course. The thing I am a little afraid of is that all muscles slowly disappear when you stop training them. I may sound like a pessimist and maybe that’s right, but I know myself and I don’t think I’ll still be encouraged to workout in like 3 years. So is it a good idea to bulk then? I’m a bit afraid to start bulking up because my abs will be less visible… I’ve always been impressed by people with a low bodyfat %, without being ‘big’. Several people have advised me not to start cutting because I’d look really meager…
Is there a way to gain some more weight but also get to like 9 % of bodyfat? I already eat lots of vegetables and fruits and drink 2 litres of water a day.

    • W. Shane Duquette on April 12, 2014 at 5:27 pm

Congratulations on gaining 5 kilos, man! I know this response is coming WAAAY late, so hopefully by now you’ve gained even more 🙂

(We check the http://www.bonytobeastly.com blog very very regularly, so if you drop us a line over there we’ll get back to you pronto.)

I think you’ll be surprised at how much you love to grow being a strong and fit dude! When I first started training I thought the same, even though training was giving me great results. Now, 55 pounds later, I’m always pretty stoked to hit the gym! It’s almost like brushing my teeth, where it’d just feel weird not to do it.

Besides, if I stay out of the gym for too long I notice my energy levels start to decrease, I start getting antsy, etc. My body just craves getting back in there.

I think you’ll find the same – once you get into a good routine you’ll find that you love it, and then it’ll be a total breeze to live a healthy lifestyle that has you effortlessly maintaining (and improving upon) your results 🙂

Also, there’s something called “muscle memory”, which is basically a way of talking about the nuclei that we create in our muscles via training. Even when we become detrained and our muscles shrink, these extra nuclei in our muscles stick around. This essentially makes us seem very genetically gifted, and when we do step back into the gym, we can build muscle in a flurry. This is still a relatively new concept, and the research into it is very fascinating. Seems like the results that we get in the gym stick around, in some way or another, pretty much forever!

  14. Chris on August 7, 2013 at 7:27 pm

    Hey guys,

First off, congrats on all your hard work, you certainly have some of the best gains around. Do you need any more beta testers? Would love to give it a shot.

Brief History: I started lifting about 10 years ago as my high school thought I had eating issues. I went from 115 to 168 in my peak, but have receded to 150 after diet changes. After years of chugging milk, eggs, and whey, I developed a lot of allergies. The biggest offenders: anything from a cow or pig (aka, milk, whey, pork, steak, beef, creatinine), wheat, rice, strawberries, bananas, spinach, oats, yeast, and more I am forgetting. This makes protein powders virtually inaccessible. I have tried isolated egg, but found it worthless. Any pointers? Has anyone on the plan had similar issues? If not, I’d make a hell of a test dummy (and dedicated too!)…

    • W. Shane Duquette on April 12, 2014 at 5:21 pm

Hey Chris, we’ve got a ton of muscle-building, weightlifting, weight gain, nutrition, etc tips over at http://www.bonytobeastly.com. When the program went live we switched all that blogging over there 🙂

  15. Brandon Alexander on September 13, 2013 at 5:03 pm

where do i sign up? Im 5’9 160 looking to gain 20-30 pounds of muscle

  17. Michael on February 10, 2014 at 7:00 am

Hey shane just been reading through the article, great read and the video was brilliant love how you don’t come across as sales people and tell it how it is, im currently 8 stone 11pounds 6ft 1 and 21 years old, been well below weight, few questions 1, will you be releasing the full program in book and dvd form, also in the programe is there a program in it that helps you maintain weight once youv reached you desire weight, i only ask is im training in the British forces its hard for me to get to a computer a lot so ebooks not really possible, thank you for you time and good luck to every one out there (ectomorphs unite :p)

    • W. Shane Duquette on April 12, 2014 at 5:33 pm

Thanks for the kind words man, really glad you dig our approach!

Yep, we can definitely help you not just build muscle, but also figure out how to maintain it when you’re done. The program includes community/support, so we can really help you with anything you need help with as far as this muscle-building stuff goes, and that’s a pretty common thing we help guys with 🙂

We probably won’t ever be releasing Bony to Beastly in book or DVD format. We like to keep everything digital. There are always new studies coming out regarding hypertrophy, strength, etc – it’s actually a really really exciting field as far as the research goes! Every month a few significant studies will come out. We also like to adjust, improve and add to the program based on how guys in the community are doing. Same thing with the videos – we’ve recently re-shot all the training videos.

If you’ve got a smartphone though that’s all you need. Our program is mobile friendly, and you can read the eBook, watch the videos, etc so long as you’ve got a modern-ish phone! (Some of our guys don’t have computers.)

Also, so sorry about taking so long to get back to you! We’re much much quicker at responding on the http://www.bonytobeastly.com blog, since that’s where we’re currently blogging about all this stuff.

  18. Brody Welch on April 9, 2014 at 1:23 am

Hey,I am 5 foot 7 and half inches tall. kind of a thin build, and find my self losing muscles, I am a vegan. I was wondering if you are still doing the beta test, because i would like to join, because i am reallt interested in these because being an ectomorph has been hard in find good workouts to make myself strong, not Huge, but porptionate and strong, and functionable, heck i want to be very fast and fit and flexible while being strong, and very acrobatic, because i am a parkour practionor.
i would love to beta test for you, as money is just not my thing.

    • W. Shane Duquette on April 12, 2014 at 5:04 pm

Hey Brody, we’ve been live and going strong for a little over two years now! 😀
      Check it out: http://www.bonytobeastly.com

I know you may not be looking for a paid program, and that’s cool – we try to come up with tons of cool free content on the blog – but you do sound like a pretty good fit, and we’d love to have you! I hope you decide to join, or at least drop us a line in the blog comments over there 🙂

  19. Adam Smith on May 6, 2014 at 7:56 am

There’s no way in hell that anyone is able to gain 20-30 pounds of muscle in 3-4 months unless a. They’re on steroids or b. They take advantage of muscle memory meaning they use to have a brawny body sometime in the past and are just regaining the lost size. . I call bs on this program.

  20. Sebastiaan on October 29, 2014 at 8:37 am

    Hey guys!

I’m a 6’6 tall 160 pounds guy, 17 years old, and I have been at the gym for a little over a month now and I have been searching information about how to get bigger and I kinda look like the first character, so the beginning phase. I still live with my parents of course and I don’t cook my own food nor pay for them so I was wondering, how do I get the nutrition and protein etc??
Btw I’m from the Netherlands 🙂
